*He ignores the fact that Wahei only opened up one arm and envelops him in a bear hug, lifting him a few inches briefly before setting him back down*

What have I been doing? Last Seed had two moons. I’d never been through that before, and it was… rough. *He shrugs* Nothing we couldn’t handle though. Just had to make sure there weren’t any sort of… lasting problems. Stayed away for a moon or two just in case.

-Wahei grumbls and growls irritably when Dar lifts him, but doesn’t actually stop him from doing so. He just pats Dar’s back with his free arm, looking put upon until he’s released-

You are recovered, then? -He glances down at Dar with concern-

[She holds out a hand to him, intending to shake on it.] Wonderful. I hope you like it, but if you don’t, that’s alright too. It’s not for everybody!

-he shakes the offered hand, gingerly, mindful of his long claws-

When sshould I be there.

Mud filling their mouths. If nothing got to them first. Screamers, all of them.

The loudest ones drew the most buzzards, do you remember? It is like they do not know more noise will get them eaten faster.

Sshould I tell your mother, then. The exccitable one, with the food. Ssshe would be mosst joyouss when sshe hearss.

Gods, nevermind. I do not want to get Mamabanji excited over grandchildren yet. *He chuckles, then opens his arms for a hug with a wide grin*

Evening, brother! It’s been too long.

-he snorts- Ah. The sstraw that breakss your joke. I will remember this.

It has been long. - rolls his eyes again when Dar opens his arms, and only opens up one of his to reciprocate. A concession for the huggy Khajiit- What have you been doing, to be away thesse monthss?

[a wishful face] Ah. I remember that. It was funny to watch them try to make their roads, and find their numbers dwindling daily.

Didn’t even have to do anything ourselves. We did, but we didn’t have to.

Especially satisfying when it was the annoying ones who were swallowed by the mud. With or without help from us.

Ah. One of your human cropss. We do not grow such thingss in the Marssh- the waterss eat them.

I will… go. My clawss will get in the way of making these ‘ravioliss’, I think.

I’ll make you a bet, if you like.

If you end up enjoying them, you get to help me and Connie next time. I know she’d like that. If you don’t like them, you don’t have to help. [Confidently, she puts her hands on her hips, and smiles.] Up for it?

-he grunts, amused at her enthusiasm- Fine. You have a deal.

flashyidiots:

I would. The human lawmakers object. It’s tedious.

Soft, squishy things that would sink into the marsh. [she snorts out her nose]

[a wishful face] Ah. I remember that. It was funny to watch them try to make their roads, and find their numbers dwindling daily.

-he just looks puzzled-

Noodless. Ravioli. Why would one make food from flower and eggs? I don’t see the point.

As I said, pasta is a very versatile food. It flavours itself with the things you use while cooking it, you can put herbs and spices alongside it, and also like I said, it’s very hard to get it to go stale. So we can keep pasta for a long, long time uncooked, and it won’t ever go bad. And, by flour I don’t mean flowers like the things that grow, but the product that comes from ground grains, and the like. If you want, I can show you. I’ll need some help making it, anyway. [She looks hopeful.]

I explain to them, and I am still called unreasonable. I am encouraged to ‘get along’. Idiocy.

Bite them.

No. What iss it?

Pasta is… Well, pasta is made from flour. You add a liquid, like water or eggs, and it softens up, although you can determine the softness with how you cook it. Uncooked, it’s very easy to preserve, and it’s the main food where I come from. There are many different kinds. Some are mixed with meat or filled with meat, or cheese, or vegetables.

… [She chuckles.] I imagine the noodle kind may not be up your alley, but I could try to make ravioli, and fill it with venison.
